Abstract
The aim is to determine the enabling and barrier factors that allow small and medium-sized blackberry producers in Los Reyes, Michoacan, Mexico, to improve their position in global value chains. The study employs a case study approach based on 20 interviews. The results indicate that producers are heavily dependent on external markets and financial support; that levels of collaboration among producers are low; and that collaborative networks among local farmers need to be established. The contribution consists of helping to build a theoretical framework to increase the use of local resources.
